The Secret Structure of Great Talks

Steve Jobs, in his January 9, 2007 speech unveiling the first iPhone, ended with a Wayne Gretzky quote, "I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been." And what a speech that was (and what a magic little box the iPhone is)! I remember the students in the public speaking class I taught at a local college, semester after semester, marveling at the well written and delivered "I Have a Dream" Martin Luther King, Jr. speech. Most of us, even though it's been nearly 50 years, can recite a line or two from that extremely memorable August 28, 1963 speech. We can learn from both of these speakers and from Nancy Duarte, who has spent time studying these two speeches (and many others) to determine what makes a great talk/speech/story. Follow this link to watch her Ted Talk and learn what you can do to ensure your next talk is great.
